VALENCIA: The Movie/S

(105 min., 2013)

A DIY collaboration between 21 filmmakers, each of whom accepted the challenge of translating one chapter of Michelle Tea's Valencia into a short film. The award winning novel chronicles the adventures of Michelle, a punk dyke in San Francisco's Mission District in the 90's, in search of love, drugs, and adventure. Cary Cronenwett directed the chapter in which Michelle awakes from a bad dream after an awkward night of making an artsy porno with her friends.

Queer filmmakers from across the country collaborated on the project, including Cheryl Dunye, Silas Howard, Jill Soloway, Chris Vargas, Samuel Topiary, Michelle Lawler, Bug Davidson, and more.

Winner of Best Experimental Film at Polari Film Festival, Austin TX
